It is supposed to deter them. This year I am experimenting with bringing in some rosemary, basil and sage. The sage appears to be dying :( but the basil is still tender and green and the rosemary which seemed to be dying at first seems to have reached a point of equilibrium. Crossing my fingers.
Lisa from Iroquoisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30590907.post-64086878845342789822015-12-07T18:26:49.783-05:002015-12-07T18:26:49.783-05:00I had to check, but back in 2012 I was harvesting ...I had to check, but back in 2012 I was harvesting lettuces from outside on December 21st! I think that has to be the record for the latest harvest ever!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16642836504821695236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30590907.post-74128001368917049002015-12-06T17:16:23.210-05:002015-12-06T17:16:23.210-05:00Still mild here, too, interrupted by one snowstorm...Still mild here, too, interrupted by one snowstorm and light frosts most nights. How fun to bring in the herbs for the winter! Your cat must be a well-behaved one not to chew on the plants! Mine would chomp them to shreds. Is that a record for you--harvesting into December?Beth at PlantPostingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10473637655960119672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30590907.post-85593393548052170962015-12-06T12:59:56.142-05:002015-12-06T12:59:56.142-05:00I was just outside enjoying this lovely weather an...I was just outside enjoying this lovely weather and noticed some of my herbs are still hanging in there, must go back out and snip some more. I don't usually bring any inside as I don't have a lot of space by light windows.Linda aka Crafty Gardenerhttp://www.craftygardener.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30590907.post-19238420505131186752015-12-06T11:43:01.060-05:002015-12-06T11:43:01.060-05:00I tried bringing in some herbs like parsley, etc.,...I tried bringing in some herbs like parsley, etc., a few times over the years, but was never overly successful. I must say that I probably didn't give them all the attention they deserved & we really don't have the best spot for them either. One of these days I'll give it another go using the grow lights. I hope that your winter herb garden provides you with lots of flavourful herbs over the winter months - keep us posted!Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.com
