I thought I'd better post an update in case anyone is wondering why I haven't been posting much recently. The main reason is that I'm back working full-time again, for the first time since moving to Canada. Carving out time for gardening is one issue, but finding time for blogging about it is quite another!
I'm working as the archivist for the County of Hastings and the City of Belleville. I took over the job on a temporary contract last July, and was appointed on a permanent basis in March. In the first nine months I had to move the entire archive to a new location, which was quite a challenge but we are now safely in the new building and settling in. I am loving it.
In other news, Mike's mother has finally received permission to move to Canada as a permanent resident. (We got this news the same day I heard about getting the permanent job - a red-letter day!) We first applied for her to come over in April 2010, so it has been a long process, but now we can move ahead at last. The to-do list has grown again, but at least we can now make definite plans for bringing her here and making changes to the house to accommodate her. Exciting times!

That is exciting news! Congratulations on the job. When I first started blogging, I was working full-time and had a very busy high-school kid and another one in college. I don't know how I found time to blog! Good luck with all your happy and busy transitions!
I remember when you blogged about trying to get your mother in law here on a permanent basis. So glad it worked out. I saw a photo of you in the paper (internet version) when the archives were being moved.
I've missed you but so glad for the exciting changes in your world. I think of you every time I glance at our gooseberry bushes. Hoping to get enough fruit for gooseberry curd this year. I have ambitions of training our bush upward on a mesh panel to make it easier to pick.
Congratulations on both your new job & finally getting the big OK so that your mother-in-law could move here! Blogging does take up a lot of time & I often wonder how folks with full time jobs & families to take care of are able to fit it in.
Wonderful news about your mother in law. Always happy to check in now and then on what you are doing. No pressure with all you have going on, but it's always great to check in with regional bloggers.
