And when it did, it looked other-worldly. The flock of starlings heading off to roost added another layer of creepiness.

Ouch, starlings in the sunset! Glad I live in the woods and have never seen them here.
Amanda !! That is one fantastic picture girl !! .. I haven't seen a good sunrise/sunset in so long now, I have no idea how I got such great pictures before ?? LOL
